Cafe Artigiano

I work a short walk away from the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and my new
recent breakfast find is Cafe Artigiano on W Hastings Street at Howe -
just a short stroll down the road from where you're staying. This cafe
is known to be the best place in the city for coffee (especially
espresso drinks)... and that's saying a lot considering that Vancouver
has literally hundreds of coffee shops. However, while I was a bit
skeptical of their food (as often coffee shops will serve okay to good
food, but not outstanding food), I was blown away with their brunch
menu and their sandwich selection. A friend of mine had a roast leg of
lamb sandwich the other day while I had their roast salmon salad
sandwich. While I wasn't in the mood for brunch that day, I noticed
that most of their dishes were in the $7.50 to $8.50 range... offering
an assortment of egg dishes, and gourmet options, like goat cheese on
toast with fig jam. I'm definitely going to be heading there the next
time I'm looking for an above-average breakfast/brunch experience with
below-average prices!
