Karl Florida Named Vice President, Thomson Legal & Regulatory Global Strategy

EAGAN, Minn.  02/28/2006

Karl Florida has been named vice president of Global Strategy for Thomson Legal & Regulatory, the largest market group within The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and the foremost provider of integrated information solutions to legal, compliance and business markets. In this role, Florida will direct growth strategy projects to support businesses within Thomson Legal & Regulatory and work in the Internet search area to support The Thomson Corporation.

Florida brings more than 14 years of experience identifying and capitalizing upon strategic market opportunities. Most recently he served as senior director, Global Strategy, Thomson Legal & Regulatory, where he oversaw growth strategy projects in the areas of Internet search, legal current awareness and transactional law. Prior to joining Thomson Legal & Regulatory, Florida worked at Return Path, an e-mail marketing company, where he helped corporations such as eBay, IBM, and Microsoft use e-mail marketing effectively and responsibly. Before that, he was employed at Netscape Communications managing e-commerce applications. Florida also spent two years with General Atlantic Partners evaluating private equity investments in technology companies, and four years with Mercer Management Consulting advising corporations on strategy and operations.

Florida holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a master’s degree in business administration from Stanford University.
