My friends are

My friends are wonderful people with their own very varied interests, as is my little sister. My dad was an engineer and I suppose that’s where I get a lot of my scientific curiosity, but we don’t get along very well, at all. I had a rather unusual childhood, and I think that in some ways has led to me seeking out my happiness wherever it can be found: in the form of information or whatever else I find interesting. I’m proud of my uniqueness in this regard. I’ve always believed knowledge to be worth its own pursuit.

In the process

In the process of getting my B.A, I jumped around between five colleges, taking what fulfilled the requirements of my major-at-the-time and suited my fancy. In this way, I’ve taken classes in the physical and social sciences and done a lot of extracurricular activities in the arts. Since college, I’ve discovered an appreciation for working in bookstores and being able to borrow the stock—as I read ravenously—but it doesn’t pay very well.

I know the

I know the basics of HTML—though mostly the HTML I have used on my personal website, which because of FTP issues hasn’t been updated in a long while. I’m in the process of making a new one, since UCSC was supposed to remove this one when I graduated, but the link is to the one that works.

My hobbies are

My hobbies are many and varied: I call them “obsessions, and they range from Andy Kaufman to Queer As Folk to Young Adult (YA) fiction. I write fiction, you see, and I’m part of Mensa, and that means I’m constantly looking for bizarre information at all hours of the night.

In studying human

In studying human culture, I studied humanity, and that requires a great variety of methods. I have written, directed and edited two of my own films; for my senior thesis, I interviewed some twenty children in local elementary schools.

My name is

My name is Rebecca Gold. I was born and raised in San Jose, California, and I’m a (fairly) recent graduate from UCSC, with a B.A. in Anthropology. If this doesn’t show my ability to multi-task and cover different subjects with grace, I don’t know what does.
