Summary: Controversy is brewing over MIT Media Lab's project to build and distribute millions of $100 laptops to children in remote regions of the world. The goal of the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) organization was announced by Media Lab founder Nicholas Negroponte at Tunis' WSIS metting. Brazil already plans to purchase 1 million laptops; China, 3 million. The laptops will measure roughly 10" x 8" with 1 gigabyte of flash memory and at least two USB ports for plugging in external devices.
