Most of them are science related; however among these pages you are guaranteed to have articles written by "outside experts, selected for their objectivity, stature in their fields and knowledge of the needs of teachers and students."

Summary: Reference taken from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this small leech like yellow fish was inserted into the ear and instantly you would be able to understand any language as it whispered the translation to you. Since we cannot all have little fish swimming around in our ear wax, here is the cyber version. This site will actually translate blocks of text for you from any language to almost any other language, and it does not have to be in the Latin based alphabet because Babel Fish will translate the letters for you as well.

Link: The Tower of Babel
Summary: "The Tower of Babel addresses the urgent human need for a sense of global community, a community where the voices of the disenfranchised gain equal rights." I could not have said it better myself. This is an excellent site with a lot of good links and information.
Link: Wikipedia
Summary: No collection of information is complete without basic vocabulary and the definition thereof. This on line encyclopedia allows users to add definitions and new words, making it a communal and universal resource rather than just the standard kind, in which the word is looked up and the definition therein stands no matter how out-dated it might be. The best part is that it is international, and has sections in several different languages!
Link: Dictionary
Summary: Although this is very extensive dictionary and thesaurus site, it is slightly confusing in its format for first time users. The good news is nothing will explode, the bad news is when looking up the definition of a word, and it might accidentally translate it into Chinese instead.
Jetpak: The Watering Hole
http://www.jeteye.com/jetpak/e1fd4d5e-3b33-1029-86c1-00304880af2fSummary: When we had to gather food and water from nature, the water bearers would gather around a watering hole and discuss life. This was the central place for local gossip, and one of the ways that the word traveled from one village to the next. Over the ages we lost that part of our social structure. However with the emergance of on-line networking it has come back, and now the watering hole has come full circle.
