Futurama, set in the next millennium, follows the exploits of Fry, a pizza delivery boy who was cryogenically frozen by accident for 1,000 years; Leela, a female cyclops; Bender, an immoral robot, and others as they work for an intergalactic delivery service owned by Fry's great, great, great... nephew, Professor Hubert J Farnsworth.

First broadcast on FOX in 1999, Futurama followed the strange jounrey of a man from 1999 frozen until the year 3000. Keeping the weird, offbeat humor of the Simpsons (although to a totally unrealistic degree, not unlike later Simpsons episodes) Matt Groening led his newer creation straight to the stars! But the FOX network stopped him before he could get there. Plagued with bad scheduling and common pre-emption for almost anything you could imagine, FOX sold the show short, and stopped production at the end of the third season. Its immense popularity has been proven again and again in syndication, and now on Adult Swim and on DVDs.
