Summary: The Chronicles of Narnia, written by C.S. Lewis is one of the best loved classics. Its rich, in-depth look into a different place takes everyone back to the wonderment of discovering the new world every time they read it. Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve, come into the magical lands through the wardrobe. Fifty-five years later... it has come to the big screen. The first of (hopefully) many was released nation wide on December 9th, 2005.

Did you know...?

A great majority of the creatures you see in the movie are actually actors in costumes! From the Cyclops and the Minotaur, to the harpies, even the centaurs are people in costumes. Though there might have been some CG to add a bit of blending to them, the horse's half of their body is a costume!

Singer/songwriter Amy Lee of the popular band "Evanescence", who is contributing to the soundtrack of this film, was offered a cameo appearance (in the movie). In response, Lee eagerly requested that she play a character that gets killed.

Did you know there are religious under currents running through Narnia? Not only it is a compelling story within itself that can be enjoyed without analyzing it, but for those religion buffs there are many references and ideas within the tales. Aslan himself plays a chief part in these, not only his personage possibly representing the British crown (and High Kind Peter rides a unicorn) but Christian themes. Check them out and see what you can find for yourself.

Movie Review (by me): December 9, 2005

I just came back from seeing this movie, and I thought it was very well done. Although one reviewer said it would be scary for children who haven't read the books, anyone who has seen Lord of the Rings will think the few moments that might have been tame in comparison. The creatures (minotaurs, centaurs, fauns and others) were done in a flawless combination of costumed actor and CG. The griffons (my personal favorite) had a sleek look and were excellent. The blending of real animals with computer graphics was so well done it was fairly difficult to tell the real from the artificial. Definitely did the books justice, the story not feeling rushed at all as it took its time to unfold what happens to Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy when they enter the magic wardrobe.
